John Foster makes the Majors!

FosterUK National Baseball champions Brighton Buccaneers are
celebrating one of their number's rising to stardom in the USA.
Ex-Buccaneer pitcher John Foster made his debut last night
for the Atlanta Braves and got his first win in his first appearance
in the Major Leagues against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Foster played for Brighton in the 1997 season before going on to
become the winning pitcher in the college world series and being drafted
by the Atlanta Braves Organisation. He was voted their pitcher of
the Year in his first professional season in the minor leagues before
his being selected for the Major League 40-man roster this season.
Foster was cut from the 40-man roster the day before the season started
and recalled yesterday to pitch against world champions Arizona Diamondbacks.
He pitched a scoreless inning to take the win.
Brighton Buccaneers head coach Craig Savage said "I am hugely
proud of John's achievements, it is a great honour for our club and
the city of Brighton and Hove - when John played for us he had a fantastic
attitude to the game and everyone could see that he had the determination
to succeed at the highest level".
